Interactive educational tours are available free of charge to UK school, college and university groups throughout the year.

Tours last approximately 45 minutes and include:

  • a guided tour an introductory talk from one of our Information Officers
    • time in our educational exhibit area
      • the opportunity to observe an appeal hearing (depending on the court schedule and seating availability)

        Tailor your tour

Our Information Officers are open to requests to tailor tours to suit each group.

When booking, let us know whether there are:

        • specific areas of the curriculum you would like us to cover
          • learning outcomes you are hoping to achieve

In-person tour times and group size

Our educational tours are popular. Booking requests need to be made at least 2 months in advance.

We currently offer tours on Friday at 10am, and Monday to Thursday at:

            • 10am
              • 11am
                • 2pm
                  • 3pm

For in-person tours the minimum group size is 10 people. For space and safety reasons there is a strict maximum of 30 people per tour, including teachers and group leaders.

If there are fewer than 10 people in your group, you could consider a virtual educational tour.

                    How to request a tour

Group organisers can request an educational tour using our online form. You will need to give:

                    • information about your educational institution and group size
                      • contact details
                        • your preferred tour date and time
                          • information about any specific topics you would like us to try to cover during the tour, if this is of interest to your group

Tours must be requested at least 2 months in advance.

                            Virtual tours

Virtual tours are free and available to UK schools, colleges and universities.

If your group cannot get to the Court building, this is a great way to learn about the creation and work of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom wherever you are.

As well as presenting information about the Court supported by video excerpts, one of our Information Officers can tailor discussions to suit your group. For example, you may want us to cover:

                            • how Justices are appointed
                              • the role of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council
                                • previous landmark UK Supreme Court cases, such as the right to die and the law surrounding joint enterprise

                                  Virtual tour times and requirements

                                  Virtual tours:

                                  • last approximately 45 minutes
                                    • can be given Monday to Thursday between 10am and 2pm
                                      • take place over Microsoft Teams
                                        • have no minimum or maximum group size
                                          • must be requested at least 2 months in advance

All participants must have access to Microsoft Teams software to be part of the tour. Microsoft Teams is usually part of the 'Office 365' package and should also be freely available to download.
